History Tab

 

 

Q. The history tab does not show in my Access database.

A. The history feature is only available for a Microsoft SQL Server database.

 

Q. The history tab shows in the SQL Server database, but no information is there after a record has been modified.

A. There is a SQL table required for this feature to work. Please contact support@colevalley.com and we can make sure everything is in place.

 

Q. What will the history tab show me?

A. Once the feature is in place, any modifications made to a record within the database will be shown. The information will show the date modified, modified by, the action that was taken, the field that was modified, what the field value was originally, and what the value was changed to.

 

Q. What fields will be listed in the history tab?

A. All field types within the database will be listed.

 

Q. What if a record is deleted and then restored, will it still contain the history information?

A. Yes, all history information is retained. There will also be new entries showing when the record was deleted from the database and when it was restored as well as by what user.

 

Q. Can I run a report from the history information?

A. ContactEase v9.20 does not currently support reporting on the history information, but it will be available in our next release.

 

Q. What if a field is deleted from the database, will that show in the history tab?

A. Yes, if a field has been deleted the Action column will show Delete Field and the Field column will show the name of the field (this includes categories). All records which contained the field will have an entry showing the delete field. It will also show when the field was deleted and by what user.

 

Q. Does the history tab show when a record was created?

A. Yes, once the history feature is in place, any new records created after that point will have an action of create record.
