Lotus Notes Synchronization

Q. When the Lotus Notes Synchronization is run, ContactEase is crashing.

A. The issue is that there is a bug in Lotus v6 where a COM object does not get registered as it should be when the Lotus install is run. There is a dll included with Lotus 6 which needs to be registered in order for Windows to recognize it and can be done manually. Here are the instructions:

1. Open a DOS window.
2. Change to the Lotus Notes install directory ("CD \Lotus\Notes" or where Notes is installed) (There is a NLSXBE.DLL in the directory).
3. Type "regsvr32 nlsxbe.dll", Enter.
4. You will get a "Registered successfully" message.

Q. In order to sync the information in ContactEase into Lotus Notes do I have to open ContactEase each time?

A. No, it can be run hidden in the background so that synchronization takes place as scheduled. To do this, add ContactEase to the startup group with /HIDDEN on the command line. (Our setup.inf supports this also).

Q. When I log in as a particular user, I don’t see the Database Settings for the Lotus Notes field mapping and synchronization schedule, why is that?

A. In order to see the tabs that let you set the field mappings and the schedule you need to have Administrator rights in the database.
